Life membership for services to the club

6th April 2021
At Crowhurst CC AGM committee member Alan Collins was made a life member. Alan was introduced to Crowhurst CC by the then captain and played his first match on 1st June 1974. He became a committee member in 1975, and then club secretary in 1977. He continued in that role until 2016(39 years). Alan was Saturday captain for eight years between 1981 and 1988 and stood down from the committee this year after 46 years. As well as playing 329 matches, he scored 2213 runs taking 13 wickets and 137 catches. Alan says, apart from the many friendships he has made, some of the most memorable highlights of his long association with Crowhurst CC have to be the three main anniversaries - 60th, 70th and 100th, when invitational matches were played.

Passing away of Tim Alexander

9th June 2017
It is with sadness that we learned that former club member Tim Alexander passed away on the 9th June 2017. Tim joined the club in 1993 and played his last game in 2003. For some reason, he volunteered(!) to take over the Fixture Secretary role and did that very conscientiously from 1995 to 2004. He was elected as a Vice-President in 2006. Tim was a quietly spoken man but contributed fully to the life of the Club. His increasing deafness meant that he found it difficult to be in large gatherings and this was one of the reasons that he had not been able to come to the Annual Dinner in recent years. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.

Website Interest

6th February 2012
I received this lovely email from Bettina Brolly in Canada

Just to let you know how much I have enjoyed your website of the Club, especially the historical photos of those that I remember well. This came about by looking at the Ronkemp website of his mother's 90th birthday,(I remember her well and saw her when I was visiting Crowhurst 2 years ago) sent to me by my nephew Peter Wells. I am Betty Wells of Crowhurst. My father Horace Wells and my brother Bill Wels were both members of the Club years ago and my father's photos are in your historical section. You have done a remarkable job on the Club history.
With Best Wishes

Match Availability

23rd May 2011
To All Team Members

One of the hardest jobs that enable the club to provide a team each week is that of Team Secretary. This is made doubly difficult when members make themselves available for matches then drop out late in the week or worse on the day of the game leaving the Team Secretary no time to source a replacement.
If you are committing to play games then please make sure you honour that commitment and support those who do a lot of work behind the scenes organising games that enable the the club to keep running.
Your assistance will be very much appreciated.

Thank-you.

Website interest

This lovely email was sent to the Club Secretary by Teresa Timmins

I was fascinated to see your web site as I was born in Crowhurst 76 years ago in a small house called Groundilly. My grandparents lived there for many years as my grandfather Percy Austin worked on the railway line. I well remember coming to the cricket field as grandad used to umpire and grandma used to help with the teas.
I was then Teresa Tomlin (Teresa Timmins for the last 53 years)
Every good wish to he club

Crowhurst in Observer Mid Week 20-20 cup final

22nd July 2009
Well done to the Crowhurst team in their magnificent effort reaching the Observer Cup final at the Horntye Wednesday evening. Although beaten in the final by a strong Legion team, Crowhurst certainly did not disgrace themselves. Having already beaten Legion in the qualifying stages of the cup Crowhurst were not able to repeat the success. Congratulations to the Legion team. See you next year.
